Conversations with Calliope- Baseball and Writing Slumps

(Pumpkin Bottom)

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. How are you today?
JOE: Good but a little weary.
CALLIOPE: From what?
JOE: Watching the world series two night in a row rather than getting to be early. I was still up at the crack of dawn or before.
CALLIOPE: I didn't know you were a baseball fanatic.
JOE: I'm not. I don't usually get interested until sometime during the world series.
CALLIOPE: Anything especially fascinating to you?
JOE: Yes. Commentaries discussed hitting and pitching streaks and slumps. I saw a parallel with writing.
CALLIOPE: How so?
JOE: I wanted to write over the past week but just couldn't seem to immerse myself in it.
CALLIOPE: You have been writing.
JOE: Yes but not with much enthusiasm as much as I tried to generate some. Suddenly my boiler fired up and I'm back at it with full energy.
CALLIOPE: Another of life's mysteries?
JOE: I suppose so. I'm just glad my writing energy is back. Talk with you tomorrow.

Conversations with Calliope- TGIF

Allegheny River Sunrise
(Allegheny River Sunrise)

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. How are you today?
JOE: I'm glad it's Friday.
CALLIOPE: You don't even go off to work any more.
JOE: Well, no. But I have felt under pressure lately, even if self induced.
CALLIOPE: Tell me more.
JOE: My websites needed to be redeveloped with a program other than Front Page. The deadline for getting this done was June 30. I made it. Both are ready although the second is still in the process of being switched to a new server.
CALLIOPE: Anything else?
JOE: There's also my caffeine withdrawal. Today marks the fifth day and I am finally realizing life after caffeine is possible.
CALLIOPE: Do you feel any different.
JOE: The greatest change and surprise as well is that I feel more energetic and eager to work both at the computer and at physical labor in the yard.
CALLIOPE: Who would have thought it?
JOE: Certainly not me. But today I have all my weekly goals accomplished and am ready to relax this weekend for the first time in a while.
CALLIOPE: Seems like you earned it.
JOE: I think so. Talk with you tomorrow.

Conversations with Calliope- Dialogue with My Muse

(Cabo San Lucas)

JOE: Good morning Calliope:
CALLIOPE: Good morning, Joe. How are you today?
JOE: Not very ambitious. I struggled to find much to write in my journal this morning.
CALLIOPE: What's that about?
JOE: I think I am still in my holiday mood from yesterday when I spent the bulk of my time visiting, socializing and eating.
CALLIOPE: So you're not back in the groove yet?
JOE: Nope. I feel like my mental field should lie fallow for a little while.
CALLIOPE: Perhaps so. You have been in high gear lately.
JOE: Right. I have been working hard to get Navigating Life prepared for publication and finally have my files submitted.
CALLIOPE: Is marketing your next task?
JOE: Yes. I have been reviewing marketing materials and gathering more. I haven't set up a clear marketing plan for Navigating Life yet.
CALLIOPE: When do you plan to start?
JOE: I think that would be a good task for Monday morning.
CALLIOPE: And this weekend?
JOE: Maybe some relaxing and continuing to read Patterson's Sail. I need to recharge my batteries. Talk with you tomorrow.
